NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Pursuant to §91-3, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that public hearings will be held by the County of Hawai‘i Department of Environmental Management for the purpose of considering proposed Administrative Rules relating to Polystyrene Foam Food Containers and Food Service Ware Reduction Ordinance (“Administrative Rules”). The proposed Administrative Rules are to establish rules which prohibit food vendors and County Facility users from using disposable polystyrene foam food containers and clarify types of suitable recyclable or certified compostable food service ware allowed.
Date: May 15, 2019 (Wednesday)
Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Place: Community Hale, West Hawai‘i Civic Center, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Building G, Kailua-Kona
Any person requiring special assistance or auxiliary aid and/or services to participate in the hearing should contact the Department of Environmental Management at 961-8083 five (5) working days prior to the hearing so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Copies of the proposed Administrative Rules will be on file and open to inspection from April 12, 2019 during office hours at the Department of Environmental Management, 345 Kekūanāo‘a St., Suite 41, Hilo, Hawaii. Additionally, the Administrative Rules can be found on-line at https://www.hawaiizerowaste.org/reduce/foam-free-hawaii-county.
A copy of the proposed Administrative Rules will be mailed to any interested person who requests a copy, pays the required fees for the copy and the postage, if any. Requests can be made via phone at (808) 961-8083 or by email to: .
All persons desiring to express their views on the above matter may do so orally at the hearing and must register with the Department of Environmental Management staff or may submit written testimony at the hearing.
