New Extended Commuter Hours at Transfer Stations

Announcing Modifications to the New Recycling & Transfer Station Hours of Operations.
The Hawai`i County Department of Environmental Management intends to implement the planned schedule change for all County Solid Waste Recycling and Transfer Stations (a.k.a. Solid Waste Transfer Stations) effective December 1, 2009 (refer to October 30, 2009 Media Release). In an effort to accommodate early morning commuters, the Department of Environmental Management will be implementing early openings at select County Solid Waste Transfer Stations. Effective December 15, 2009 the following Solid Waste Transfer Stations will be open to accommodate commuter traffic as indicated in the table below.

This change will also affect the operating hours and days for associated onsite HI-5 Beverage Container Redemption Centers and Reuse Centers. The transfer stations in Hilo, Honomū, Kailua-Kona (Kealakehe), Kalapana, Miloli‘i, Pāhala, Pāhoa, Puakō, Waimea, and Wai‘ōhinu will not be affected by these changes.
